Statement In Response To White City Housing Mix

White City 2

70 new affordable homes will be built in White City as part of a mixed-use scheme in Bloemfontein Road, recently granted planning permission by the London Borough of Hammersmith & Fulham.

It had been reported that following the appointment of the new Conservative Mayor of London, Boris Johnson, permission had been given for Conservative led Hammersmith & Fulham Council to cut all affordable housing from the scheme.

The original planning application, submitted by developer Building Better Health, had included a mix of affordable and private housing and this proposal has been approved.

A total of 179 housing units will be built as part of the scheme of which 70 will be affordable, made up of 23 shared ownership and 47 Low Cost Market Discount. The remaining 109 units will be sold as private housing.

The White City scheme is being delivered by Building Better Health and joint venture partner Hammersmith & Fulham PCT, in partnership with the Hammersmith & Fulham Council. It will be the largest and most adventurous scheme to be completed under the NHS LIFT (Local Improvement and Finance Trust) initiative.

As a developer committed to providing exemplary facilities to the public sector, Building Better Health fully supports the inclusion of affordable housing in as many of its schemes as possible - White City is no exception.
